McMurdo FAST FIND 220 and MAX G PLBs are powerful 406MHz distress beacons with a built-in state of the art multi-channel GPS for additional pinpoint location. The pocket sized beacons transmit a unique identification signal via the international search and rescue satellite system operated by COSPAS SARSAT on 406MHz.
The signal is quickly passed to regional search and rescue authorities who can rapidly get to the scene. Once activated FAST FIND 220 will continue to transmit for at least 24 hours, the larger, buoyant FAST FIND MAX G PLB will continue to transmit for at least 48 hours.
FAST FIND PLBs comply with tough international standards. The integral state of the art multi-channel GPS navigation receiver in each beacon gives a typical positional accuracy of +/- 62 metres (200 feet). The FAST FIND 220 GPS PLB also includes a unique SOS LED flash light facility which is manually activated to further assist in speeding up the user’s recovery during night time rescues.
McMurdo PLBs are designed to be carried by individuals as a safeguard against life threatening incidents that could occur on land, sea or air. The FAST FIND range of PLB products from McMurdo provide professional mariners with an excellent chance of being found in the event of an emergency. The FAST FIND is easy to operate, light to carry, and will operate in temperatures down to -20°c. The integral battery has a user storage life of 5 years.
