WING Inflatables specialise in designing and manufacturing RIB tubes and sponsons. WING supply military and commercial RIBs and are suppliers to the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. The selected type of RIB tube or sponson depends on the specific purpose and application of the RIB in the expected working environment.
Air-holding tubes are the traditional RIB sponson. They are cylindrical in shape with hull attachment points to the inside. Air-holding tubes are divided into a number of independent inflatable sections by baffles so that if one section fails the rest of the tube remains inflated. The number of inflatable sections depends on the overall length of the tube.
Other benefits of the air holding tube include excellent shock absorption combined with the ability to deflate for transportation.The polyurethane outer material is welded and has proven to be superior in strength to glued fabric, particularly in the three critical areas of puncture, abrasion and tear resistance.
WING Inflatables foam filled air holding tubes have high-density, non-absorbent foam packed into each chamber. Redundant flotation is the key feature of this air-holding tube. In the rare event of a breach in the polyurethane fabric and a loss of air pressure, the packed foam maintains the chambers shape and 90% of its flotation factor.
