Offshore patrol craft are often selected for coastal defence duties, border protection and multiple task patrolling in all weathers. Offshore patrol vessels are used by government agencies involved in maritime and coastal surveillance and law enforcement missions. Duties may include navy, coast guard, police, customs, anti-piracy, immigration, anti-smuggling and fisheries protection. These vessels may also assist in Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.
