London Boat Show 2017

London Boat Show - ExCel January 6 to 15 2017

London Boat Show 2017 is being held from 6th to 15th January at ExCel Arena in London's docklands.

The London Boat Show, now in it's 63rd year, is Europe's original boat show. Independent boat builders and multinational companies display a wide range of power boats and sail boats. The show includes all types of sailing craft from singlehanded racing dinghies to superyachts.

The Boat Show has close to 400 boats on display and 100 debut products to interest visitors from around the world. ‘LBS’ kicks off the 2017 boating calendar, offering a taste of what the global marine and sailing world has to offer for the year ahead. The show officially opens to celebrity appearances and live entertainment.

Virtual Reality Technology – Immersive & Live

This years London Boat Show has a virtual reality experience designed so that visitors can immerse themselves in the elements and explore the maritime world and the latest in technology. At the XCommNet stand VR headsets and 360° videos will allow attendees to experience sky-high death-defying stunts, all from the comfort of the exhibition. One minute you’re in the show, the next you’re in a glider above The Palm in Dubai, watching as your passenger leaps from the aircraft and hurtles through the air, using his wing suit to glide like Superman.

This is immersive, this is live, this is virtual reality technology. It's been used in the aviation industry, now this innovative technology is arriving in the marine world. With 360° live streaming, you can be transported in seconds. You can be on the deck of a yacht in the Fastnet race, watching in real time as the crew are battered by surf and spray. As you turn your head, you will see the competition trailing behind and the Fastnet Rock ahead as VR captures the moment.

It’s not just entertainment. 360° live streaming can take personnel from their office to a wind turbine where a fault urgently requires their expertise. With a panoramic view of the situation VRT can be used to direct the team on how to deal with engineering issues and avert a crisis without ever setting foot on the wind turbine.
